I ran these commands:
> sudo su
> echo 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib64' > /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/ld_library_path
>update-initramfs -u -k 2.6.24-19-generic
Then rebooted int the -19 kernel (normal and Recovery, -18 still works fine), and got the following output:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[24.229000] ACPI: Processur [CPU1] (supports 8 throttling stages)
[24.229110] ACPI: Exception (Processor_core-0816): AE_NOT_FOUND, processor device is not present.

Check root= bootarg cat /proc/cmdline
or missing modules, devices: cat /proc/modules ls /dev
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/* does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
(initramfs) ls/dev/disk
ls: /dev/disk: No such file or directory

Here's the output of `/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --list /sbin/usplash_write':

libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00007fd112c5f000)
