I can confirm that this bug exists in Ubuntu 8.04 beta 1 with kernel
2.6.24-12-generic.  lspci reports that I have:

04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8056 PCI-E
Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13)

I dont experience complete lockups.  however I experience extreme
slowdowns over a local gigabit network when using just interactive ssh.
