Also have dv5000 with BCM4318 card running Ubuntu 8.04 Beta 64 bit.
Restricted drivers manager shows a result for the wireless card, says
the driver is in use, but does not and will not let me check the enable
box.  Attempt to check the box and the computer tells me a restart is
needed for the changes to take effect. Restart and go back into
restricted drivers and there is still no check mark in the box.  Went
through this process many times and got the same result. Had the
wireless card working like a charm with ndiswrapper on 64 bit fiesty.
