thanks for your bug report.
There is a new kernel available for Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS (http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/linux-image-2.6.15-29-386)
Does that happens also with this kernel version?
If yes can you test the latest Ubuntu developer version Hardy beta one? 
You can download them from http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.04/
If your card is still not working correct can you please provide the following informations:
Output from uname -a ?
Output from lspci -vv?
Output from lsmod
