I found an ornery fellow on freenode in #ubuntu-kernel who was
channeling 'Comic Book Guy', and he was kind enough to point me to some
.debs that installed the 2.6.27 kernel without any compiling, grub
fixing, or the usual hassles.

If you are using Kubuntu 8.04.1 or earlier on an Asus G965 bsaed
platform, and you are having issues with ndiswrapper and the rtl 8185
chipset or some similar setup, this probably relates to your problem.
