Binary package hint: dpkg
[Probably in DPKG or APT]
APPORT proposed INITRAMFS-TOOLS as a package, this is based on my own gut analysis.
Possible dupe of: #394682 and/or #394565, at least.
In APTITUDE, trying to purge linux-xxx modules previously deleted leaving configuration files around.
DPKG fails, returning a *Fatal* error, when it cannot find SYSTEM.MAP files. I believe these were part of what had been already removed.
In general, pre/post remove procedures should NOT return a fatal error
when the desired post-condition already exists. If a script intends to
remove a file and the file does not exist, then the desired post-
condition (file-does-not-exist) is true. Nothing more severe than a
warning should EVER be returned when the result of a process is achieved
--- even if it is achieved in an unexpected manner.
