@Tim Wright
I assume when you say 'don't do that' you mean, don't submit the bug
fix? As opposed to 'don't make the change to your config'.
The changes suggested to "60-persistent-storage.rules" worked an
absolute treat for me. I understand that you want the correct fix in the
kernel for both the infinite loop and the device exceptions, but the
pragmatic thing to do as of now, would be to suggest those affected by
the bug make the change.
Unless of course there is a danger in doing so!
I went from a deathly slow-booting computer, with processes locked in a
loop eating my CPU and no access to my USB drives, to a fully
functioning Ubuntu install. I had tried multiple kernels and added
repositories I wish I hadn't in vain to try and fix the issue.
I have backed up the edited file. Does this file get overwritten by
updates? (i.e. new kernels) If so, an update that fixes the issue (i.e.
a new kernel) should also correct the file, no?
Thanks all, and regards,
Paul McConnon
