Hi, my laptop is a LG LW40 Express and I have the same non shutdown/hibernate problem. The screen goes black and nothing more...
I am also some trouble with the power management, the fan control goes crazy and the PC is always "on fire" :S

output of the following commands:
$ lspci -vv > lspci-vv.log
$ lspci -vvn > lspci-vvn.log
$ dmesg > dmesg.log
$ lshal > lshal.log

Any idea?
