Okay, so I have read through the comments and can't get a clear grasp.
The status if this bug is Fix Released but it sounds like the problem is
still there.

I recently convinced my younger brother to convert to Ubuntu and he has
one of the affected HP Turion systems. He can't boot a 32-bit distro at
all, and can boot the 64-bit distro using the keyboard spacebar method
using Intrepid Ibex 64-bit.

Is it possible to make this problem go away fairly easily or should he
just go with 8.04? Since 8.10 is already installed and works fine short
of this issue, 8.10 is preferred.

Thanks
