just want everyone to know that this happens on my desktop aswell, NOT
JUST THINKPADS!!!

created /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-floppy.conf

and added

blacklist floppy

sudo rmmod floppy
sudo update-initramfs -u

and rebooted to a 0:19 bootime, from 1:09
