It is actually an upstream error. Other distros have it too.

On Linux 2.6.32-rc7 (package from Andy Whitcroft ppa) I have:

dmesg | grep error

[    2.412275] [drm:i915_handle_error] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x00000010, masking
