I have the same problem both with ubuntu karmic that with opensuse.
Dmesg | grep uvc reports

[    9.507924] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device <unnamed> (05ca:183b)
[    9.508949] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
[ 9412.672120] uvcvideo: Failed to set UVC commit control : -32 (exp. 26).
[ 9412.672124] uvcvideo 1-2:1.1: reset_resume error -5

My webcam works very well if i don't use hibernation.
