2) Kernel version is:
Linux Ubuntu 2.6.32-17-generic #26-Ubuntu SMP Sat Mar 20 02:23:45 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

3) I expected the system not to keep locking up

4) The system keeps locking up for 5-120 second intervals. I think it
only occurs during times of high disk activity, but take that with a
grain of salt. There have been times when I've been doing tons of disk
activity, and the system has been just fine.
