First, for the alsamixer issue, the "M" button toggles whether an item
is enabled or not.

Second, the onboard soundcard is not detected at all, this is in order
if you disabled it in BIOS.

You said you have permission problems. Could you elaborate? Is it a
terminal command that returns "permission denied", and if so, what
terminal command, and can you please quote the exact error message?

As for system testing, if you just send a hardware report in the end of
the test, that will not file a bug in Launchpad, it will just store the
result in a hardware database. To file a bug, say "no" to the question
whether the test worked and then "yes" when you are asked if you want to
file a bug report.
