( I admit that I have found the wrong place to post this stuff. But I
would like to add that "1. Nobody is using kubuntu" is just not true. )
My (mis-)understanding was that 10.04 fails to boot MBP5,1 = fails to
boot the kernel. I used the option "nouveau.noaccel=1 blacklist=vga16fb"
to boot latest Kubuntu and it worked. I thought it would be useful to
let others know so I added this here (+ a lot more due to my excitement
about the upcoming release).
Anyway, IIUC, the bottom line is (besides the "blacklist=vga16fb" issue):
"nouveau" provides no _stable_ 3D acceleration in its current state [*] and it wont be ready when Lucid comes out". The solution would be to load "nouveau" with the option "nouveau.noaccel=1" for the machines that wear the respective graphic card(s).
Right?
