"How are you passing the model quirk to the kernel at boot time?"

For the LiveCD - hit a key on the first splash screen, Hit Enter for
English, F6, then esc to get to the Boot Options, type model=vaio, hit
enter to continue boot.  Audio works when I do this, and doesn't if I
don't.

For an HD boot: hit 'e' on the Grub menu, enter model=vaio as the last
line of the options, Ctrl-x to boot.  Audio works whether or not I edit
the boot options.
