There's a test-kernel building in the nouveau ppa (
https://edge.launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/nouveau/ ) which should
quirk off acceleration for affected MacBook Pros.  Once it has built
could you please test that this kernel successfully boots *without* the
nouveau.noaccel=1 kernel option?
