I am not sure if this is the same bug, but it looks similar.

Asus M51SN laptop (x86_64).

When I boot into -20 from after rebooting from a working kernel (-19) it
hangs on photo 1. If I then do a shutdown using the power button and
boot into -20 again, I always get photo 2.
