You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Performing an upgrade from fresh-ish 9.10 native installation to 10.04
beta 2 worked fine. Performing the exact same upgrade on a similar 9.10
Ubuntu running as a VirtualBox guest (which has been upgraded since 7.xx
ubuntu) to 10.04 beta 2 has resulted in it hanging very early on in the
grub boot sequence. If I hit ESC and chose the 2.6.31 vintage of the
kernel it will boot. THe latest 2.6.32 version sees it hang
indefinitely.

I will try and capture the recovery-mode screen dump of where it hangs
but please let me know if there is anything that can be done to modify
the Grub menu options/rollback/fix this please?

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
