Hi.
I hope i am doing this right.
I have been using Ubuntu and Xubuntu for 3 years and I love it.
Recently I bought an Asus eee 1005P.
There are a some problems running Ubuntu on it. What I found is that are
no support for:
Wireless network.
The screen brightness on Fn+ F5 & F6 keys does not work. (I found this bug filed already)
There are no support for multi touch on the keypad. (Two finger scrolling greyed out in prefs.)
Sound keys FN + F10, F11 & F12 are not supported
Microphone doesn't work.
The USB hotplug of mouse and USB media has been inconsistent. (It seems to work now).
I am aware of the “HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks Wiki page” on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks
The computer has got Windows7 starter edition on it, as most other new netbooks. I is a pretty limited version of windows and I suspect that some of the owners of these popular netbooks would want to try out Ubuntu, and hardware support is important for the experience.
So I hope for the new version of Ubuntu to have support for not only my eee, but other netbooks to.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
