[Bug 568653] [NEW] Live 10.04 RC on Thinkpad X40: Blank screen!

Public bug reported:

10.04 beta 2 worked OK on a thinkpad X40, until I updated the kernel. Then it (re)booted to blank screen.
Live 10.04 CD (RC) does the same.
I am using a different system, because the X40 is not functional.
