Results of testing as per wiki instructions (used tried both the
”current” as well as the 2.6.34-rc5 versions):

No change: the USB device is not recognized as wireless device: ifconfig
and iwconfig do not list it; and dmesg does not show any activity for
the rt2870 driver (dmesg | grep rt2870).

So the patch is still very much necessary.
