Unchanged behaviour in Final Release:

ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso 29-Apr-2010 13:56  699M  Desktop CD for PC
(Intel x86)

Booting with either "nouveau.modeset=0" or "nouveau.noaccel=1" succeeds,
otherwise the result is as first described.

These boot options may not be known to a potential new user of Ubuntu,
who assumes, simply, that Ubuntu 10.04 just 'does not work' on their PC.
