[Bug 570328] Re: No image during boot/shutdown, small terminals appear

With the latest upstream kernel, this issue does not occur. Now I can
see the console running through its course during boot. The load screen
eventually pops up for approx 1 second and goes to the login.

For shutdown, a flash of the console and then the shutdown splash comes
up as normal.
