I have the same "wave" problem on my external VGA TFT monitor. I used 10.04 beta 2 and yesterday I update to release. Problem still exists.
My notebook is IBM/Lenovo T60 with Mobility Radeon X1300. 

I don't have this problem before with Ubuntu 9.04 and 8.04
