I fixed this months ago (and got it merged upstream).  If Ubuntu hasn't
sucked in the backport, then you need to be complaining (it was merged
into the kernel.org mainline 2.6.31.6).

You shouldn't have needed to install the Lucid kernel, assuming you are
running the latest Karmic updates.
