I upgraded my venerable Sony Vaio PCG SRX51P/B from a working fine
Jaunty to Karmic and it mostly works fine. The problem is that neither
Bluetooth or WiFi work at all now. Wired Ethernet is fine. Overall,
sadly, the machine has gone from "sort of useful" to "totally useless".
Daniel Hollocher on Answer 89967
(https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/89976) suggests this
is actually a kernel problem rather than an Ubuntu problem, which is
clearly a very sensible suggestion. He proposes running the Jaunty
kernel as a test. Rather stupidly I have managed to remove all the
previous kernels just leaving 2.6.31-14-generic. Is there any way of
getting 2.6.28-16 which I think was the last Jaunty kernel to test this
hypothesis?
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
