i am quite new to linux and trying to get Ubuntu 9.10 to run on my Aspire 4810TZ. So I am wondering if I can use this last solution in combination with the solution for the prob with the touchpad button described in bug #374459 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/374459 which also requires a change in that line.
So, I would change to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash noacpi i8042.nomux"
