You have been subscribed to a public bug:
When using Ubuntu with Thinkpads (T41 & T60) Ubuntu overheats the
system.
On the T60 the system will not boot when the system (I think it is the
graphics chip) is warm; you have to wait for it to cool down.
This system gets so hot it burns my legs.
Using Centrino chipsets on both (Centrino on T41, Centrino Duo on T60).
This is a fully patched T60 with Lucid - fresh install. Have had similar
issues on previous versions...
The heat could probably shorten the system life - it is that excessive.
and this is not under much load. CPU state panel applet says 54% / 1Ghz.
Usually just running Chromium ( but similar with Firefox), Pidgin
When playingback web videos the system gets so hot it shuts down. Fan
speed doesn't seem to change. There are lots of reports on this on the
web, but no real answers.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
