[Bug 603422] [NEW] screen goes blank and monitor repeatedly tries to initialize

Public bug reported:

Screen will randomly go blank and the screen will flicker a small square
of white lines and try to turn on repeatedly. I think it might be an
issue with the Kernel relating to the video card drivers. The computer
is an emachines C2685 and is using GRUB to determine operating system
upon boot.

The problem occurs sometimes while browsing websites, sometimes after
entering password for the locked screen, sometimes when the monitor is
going to sleep.
