Sorry,  I had acpi_sleep written in the grub config, just typed it wrong
here..

the 99video and 98video-quirk files definitely need to be moved out of
the /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d directory ... Moved them into my home
directory and now sleep resumes!
