[Bug 605876] [NEW] Suspend results in black screen 10.04

Steps to reproduce:
1. Power on machine
2. Wait variable length of time (1 minute --> N hours)
3. Click on "Suspend" from the panel menu

Expected Result: 
Machine goes into a suspended state

Actual Result:
Screen goes black but is still backlit. Machine becomes un-responsive and I cannot go to a virtual tty. I have to hard-reset the machine to recover.

I have attached the syslog entries surrounding the suspend (approx. Jul
15 09:10 AM) and subsequent hard-reset.
