[Bug 606672] [NEW] kernel panic during boot

Almost every time I turn my laptop on, the boot process just freezes on the splash screen and all I get is a blinking caps-lock led. The only way to restart is by holding down the power button for >4 secs. Then I turn it on again and sometimes I have to repeat this process four or five times until I can finally get to the desktop. This has been happening since Karmic (now I'm using Lucid), but I don't remember with which kernel.
More recently, my system has also started freezing at random, also with blinking caps lock.
