[Bug 607004] [NEW] no alsa sound on 2.6.35-8

Public bug reported:

After the recent kernel upgrade to 2.6.35-8 ALSA sound has completely been dropped.
None of the ALSA modules are anywhere in /lib/2.6.35-8.
/proc/asound doesn't exist and dmesg doesn't show any ALSA related messages.

I reinstalled all relevant packages but nothing changed.
Tried to recompile the ALSA modules from scratch but got some compile errors.

This has been working flawlessly with 2.6.35-7 and before.
