[Bug 609428] [NEW] Unable to boot after upgrade

Public bug reported:

Upgraded to kernel 2.6.35-9 and started getting graphics corruption and a locked PC. Keyboard didn't work.
Logged in with the recovery console and uupgraded to 2.6.35-10 and the problem persisted.
In the boot menu, I removed the 2 lines about graphics initialisation ('load_video' and 'set gfxpayload=keep')  and changed 'splash' to 'nosplash'. this allowed me to boot into GDM and log in.
