Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) AMD64, and after fixing the
GRUB loader problem (Grub error: grub_puts_ not found. ), when I select
the option "Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-22-generic" from the GRUB menu, I
get the splash screen with the dots moving across the screen, but it
never actually loads anything. The screen just stays there with the dots
going across the screen,

If I restart and select "Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.31-22-generic", after
doing a few peculiar things, it does load OK and is working fine.

My other computers did not encounter any problems upgrading to 10.04 and
running 2.6.32-22. I am not sure what other information I need to
supply. The processor is an AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620. My video card is
NVIDIA model MCP61.

I am not sure what the ramifications of using the older version of the
kernel under 10.04 might be. I don't know how to find out what prevents
the new kernel from loading.

I tried running ubuntu-bug -p linux but it just said "this bug cannot be reported. This is not a genuine ubuntu product" or something like that.
uname -a > uname-a.log:
Linux <user name> 2.6.31-22-generic #60-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 27 02:41:03 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
cat /proc/version_signature > version.log:
Ubuntu 2.6.31-22.60-generic
but, of course, to get the system to work I am now running 2.6.31-22 so this might not be relevant.
dmsg > dmesg.log:
                 dmesg.log is attached
sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log
                  lspci-vnvn.log is attached

Thanks for looking into this.

I don't know if both are attached. I tried to do so, but cannot be certain.
