Public bug reported:
When I plug-in my USB LAN controller, dmesg prints
------------------------
[ 848.677130] usb 6-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
[ 848.862347] usb 6-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 848.873186] dm9601: disagrees about version of symbol usbnet_set_msglevel
[ 848.873195] dm9601: Unknown symbol usbnet_set_msglevel
....
------------------------
This happens in newly installed 2.6.31-20-generic Kubuntu Karmic kernel, as well as in still available on my machine 2.6.31-19-generic, 2.6.31-14-generic and 2.6.31-16-generic kernels.
This does not happen in my oldest installed kernel, 2.6.31-11-generic.
File dm9601.ko is available in all installed kernels as a module:
------------------------
$ locate dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-11-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-14-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-16-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-19-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-20-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.ko
------------------------
I'm not attaching output from uname, dmesg, lspci etc. as I understand
that ubunut-bug utility already did so and more.
