Just so you know, I had the same problem. All I had to do to fix it was
update my BIOS to the newest version and it works just fine now. You can
get the BIOS updates at http://support.acer.com/drivers_download.aspx
... you might have to be in Windows to do it though, so hopefully you
have duel-boot capabilities.
