I've tried that on mine, and it doesn't work -- no VT, no display at
all.

Which seems to be what I'm experiencing, as is the original reporter, if
I understand your distinction.

Let me know what, if anything, I can do to help get this resolved.  For
now, I'm just sticking with the last working driver, 190.53.
