My Thinkpad X24 still has USB 1.1 ports. When I write a large file to a
USB stick, the computer becomes completely unresponsive for up to two
minutes, almost as if it had crashed hard. No reaction to keyboard or
mouse. The LED on the USB stick will usually keep flashing, indicating
writing activity does continue. This happens every time I copy an ISO
to a USB stick with unetbootin for example. I am running Lucid kernel
2.6.32-11-generic on an otherwise karmic system. /var/log/syslog has
nothing unusual.
bug 226784 looks similar, but I don't think I experience high load.
