Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04 alpha3 Lucid
Linux 2.6.32.16.17
System: Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop

After standby, the heat sensors are not read correctly any more, leading
to the fans not being activated and ultimately leading to an emergency
shutdown of the hardware due to overheating. This is reproducable by
installing the XSensors-package. Running the xsensors before standby
(reading all three available sensors perfectly) and lying the laptop on
a soft surface leads to closed air valves. The system heats up and the
fans start.

After standby, the xsensors recognize three sensors, but the reading is
always 0. Placing the laptop on a soft surface again, the temperature is
rising, but the sensors do not notice that. The fans are not activated
and after a while, the laptop is just shut down in a second.

This is a serious bug, if confirmed by others.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
