This netbook runs well on wlan with Easy Peasy, and did before also with
Ubuntu 8.04. I have no wlan and can't get it activated with Jaunty
beta1.

On starting (from a install on a USB stick) I see no network
connections and not even an option to enable wireless. Starting Hardware
Drivers from the system menu shows 'Alternate Atheros "madwifi" driver'
available with a grey button in front. At the bottom it says 'A
different version of this driver is in use'. After clicking Activate,
the grey button changes to the blue cicular arrow, and the bottom text
now reads 'The driver was just disabled, but is still in use'. Huh?
Before is said that a different driver was in use.

No recommendation for any further steps to take. So I rebooted.

After rebooting the exact same situation as I began with, see above.
Quite a pity regression.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Invalid
