Note that the kernel reported this every time I pressed fn-f8 with BIOS version A14:
[12675.498941] dell-wmi: Unknown key 42 pressed

It doesn't do that with A20.

2.6.31-20-generic (Karmic)
A14: "dell-wmi: Unknown key 42 pressed", (immediate) keypress/-release of keycode 227 is generated twice
A20: "dell-wmi: Unknown key 42 pressed", (immediate) keypress/-release of keycode 227 is generated twice

2.6.32-16-generic (Lucid)
A14: "dell-wmi: Unknown key 42 pressed", (immediate) keypress/-release of keycode 227 is generated twice
A20: no messages from dell-wmi, keypress/-release of super_l + p once (super_l release when fn is released, p release when f8 is released)
