It looks like other people are still having this problem, but this
problem has not existed for me since Karmic was released.

My apologies (as the bug submitter) for not having stayed on top of
this, particularly given the request to retest from a few months ago.
It was a busy period.

So from my perspective, this bug is fixed.  The others experiencing the
bug should perhaps be sure they've got the exact hardware as I --
perhaps the bug can actually be closed.  The particular HP dv9700 series
laptop for which I opened the bug is a dv9910US.
