I currently run a cluster of jaunty webdav enabled Apaches. All are
under fairly heavy write load. Until very recently they have been fairly
stable, but over the last week i have seen a large increase in kernel
panics.
No software change I can think of has introduced this behaviour. The
issue effects multiple servers all with identical hardware
configurations. I've tried updating the kernel to versions from karmic
+ lucid (even tried a 2.6.33 based kernel) all have no effect on this
issue.
I've attempted to capture a crashdump of the issue - but have had little
success. I have however managed to capture panic output via netconsole
(results attached).
I've tried tweaking various vm related sysctl to help ease the problem -
however the panics continue. Server crashes tend to be immediate -
sometimes proceeded by a high load spike.
