I just tried this on Lucid beta1. The problem still exists, no network after waking up from sleep mode. 
When I run 

rmmod via_rhine
modprobe via_rhine

after resuming, the network works again.  so I assume sabraq's work
around will work as well (havent tested it yet, will test later).
