I'm having the same issue.  I have a similar set up too.  Using Ubuntu
Lucid 64bit on HP dv6000 series laptop with Intel 4965 AGN.  Wireless
worked fine in 2.6.32-16 and once I updated to 2.6.32-17 - no wireless.
The wireless icon at the top says it is connect to my LAN but you cannot
access any web pages or devices on the network.  Also, I noticed that it
even has trouble displaying the home folder in Nautilus - seems very
slow.  I have to boot into 2.6.32-16.
