[Bug 552092] [NEW] Kernel mode switching causes screen flicker every few minutes on Intel

Public bug reported:

I have this Intel chip in my laptop:

VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series
Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07)

and when I switched to Lucid beta I started seeing my screen flicker
occasionally, about every few minutes on average (I haven't noticed
anything that triggers flickering, it just seems random).

I have used the laptop for many hours with KMS disabled
(i915.modeset=0), and there was no sign of flickering.

Bug 402982 seems like it might be closely related, but that describes
almost continuous flickering, not every few minutes.
