Public bug reported:

Hi there I'm having problems booting my machine after upgrading to
Lucid. Basically it takes forever to boot then drops to initram. After
another long wait it allows me to exit and the machine then boots.
Anyone got any ideas? Here's fstab:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc                                       /proc          proc         defaults                          0  0
# / was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=b341f5f2-1899-4a55-805e-65b3118793ce  /              ext3         errors=continue,users,user_xattr  0  1
# swap was on /dev/sda5 during installation
UUID=f6c6e3a0-b8b2-4aac-9ead-65259d7f2b56  none           swap         users,sw                          0  0
/dev/scd0                                  /media/cdrom0  udf,iso9660  user,noauto,exec,utf8             0  0

and here's the UUID output:

alan at mesmer:/dev/disk/by-uuid$ ls
b341f5f2-1899-4a55-805e-65b3118793ce  f6c6e3a0-b8b2-4aac-9ead-65259d7f2b56
alan at mesmer:/dev/disk/by-uuid$

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Alan
