This is a problem on an HP mini 210-1010nr running i915 driver. My dmesg
contains the "Hangcheck timer elapsed" message as well as the
"i915_do_wait_request returns -5" message. In addition (and this may or
may not be important) I get the message [drm] Big FUFO is enabled"
repeated several times around when the happens.
My report differs from the previous reports, though, in that the screen
does not totally hang. Instead, X restarts into "recovery" mode. Virtual
terminal still work, so I am able to do Ctrl-F1, look at dmesg, etc.
Subsequent attempts to restart X fail.
I didn't have this problem running fully updated Karmic on the same
machine. This started happening with Lucid, which I just installed. It
is pretty much a deal-breaker, and it renders the system unusable.
